Want an additional challenge? Willing to do a bit more? If you want to start off the year with some extra credit, pick another title from above and complete a graphic organizer for that book too.
We can't wait to welcome you to Bailey Middle School! We know that arriving at Middle School for the first time can be intimidating. We have addressed some of the questions you may have below:
What do I need to bring?
For the first day of school, you should bring:
- a folder containing notebook paper, a pen or pencil
- your Summer Reading Assignment
- your lunch or lunch money
Just a reminder, anything you bring with you during the first week of school, you will have to carry (backpacks are not permitted until you receive your school locker). Lockers are not usually assigned until all required paperwork is turned in (about a week).
What do I wear?
We know that you want to be fashionable, but make sure that what you wear is in compliance with our dress code. If you get chilledeasily, you may want to bring a sweater as the rooms can get cold.
- Shorts/skirts have to be finger tip length with arms straight by your side.
- No attire with holes, shreds, etc.
- No camisole, halter or tank tops.
- No basketball or athletic shorts.
What do I do when I arrive at Bailey?
When you arrive at Bailey, you will stay in the main hall or in the cafeteria. There will be Alpha Advisory lists posted on the wall. On the 6th grade list, locate the first letter of your last name and report to the room number assigned to your last name when the gate goes up (8:05). Most of you will have alpha advisory in the 6th grade hall (rooms 300-314), but some of you may have it in another area in the building or even a portable.
If you don’t know where to go, don’t hesitate to ask a teacher, administrator, or any Bailey staff person to help you locate your Alpha Advisory.
What is Alpha Advisory?
Once you arrive at Alpha Advisory, your teacher will give you your schedule and answer any questions you may have. After about 10–15 minutes, the bell will ring and you will be released to your first period class. If for some reason you don’t have a schedule, your Alpha Advisory teacher will advise you to report to the cafeteria to get your schedule. On Tuesday, you will not report to Alpha Advisory, you will report to your first period class when the gate is raised.
When do I eat lunch?
Sixth grade lunch begins at 10:50a.m. and ends at 11:20a.m. You will be escorted by your 3rd period teacher to the cafeteria.
After lunch, you will be escorted to the 6th grade hall by an administrator and 6th grade teachers.
Please follow the cafeteria expectations listed below:
- Walk to and from lunch
- Wait in line respectfully
- Act respectfully toward all adults
- Stay seated when eating and talking
- Speak with your inside voice
- Throw all of your trash away
What do I do if I get lost, or if I have a question?
Do not be intimidated to ask any teacher, administrator, or Bailey staff person for assistance. We are here to help you and want you to have a great first day as a Bailey Bear. If you get home after your first day and have a question that can’t wait until the next day, please call our main office at 414-4990 for assistance.
