Cell Phone Policy:

The district allows middle school students to possess cell phones, as defined by law, while on school property or while attending school­ sponsored or school related activities on or off school property. "Paging device"includes a wireless, mobile communication device or portable telephone. All cell phones MUST remain turned OFF and "out of sight" during the school day on school property.

Violation of this rule will result in the confiscation of the device by staff.

Parents will be notified by the school if the electronic device/cellphone is confiscated. The school may hold confiscated cell phone or paging devices for 48 hours. If a paging device/cell phone is confiscated a 2nd time a parent conference is required. The item will be released to the parent when the$15 fine ispaid (exact cash amount or check).The fee charged for the release of the device is allowed under Section 37.082 of the Texas Education Code. The school will make every effort to assist in loss or theft, but is not responsible for electronic items brought to school.

 

Electronic devices: Cellphones, Pagers, CD players, iPod, Mp3 players, Radios, gaming devices (PSP, NintendoDS, WII U) etc.

Electronic Device Policy

“Electronic Device” refers any student’s individual devices which include, but is not limited to, cell phones, airpods/headphones, and gaming devices.

Students are not allowed to use their electronic devices on campus between 8:20am – 3:50pm. Devices must be silenced and out of sight. If they are caught using their devices during school hours penalties are as follows:

First Offense

The device(s) will be taken from the student by a faculty or staff member and turned into the front office. The device(s) will be logged in. The student may pick up the device(s) at the end of the day in the front office. The student will be given a note to take home to their parent/guardian letting them know that their student’s device(s) were collected and a copy of the electronic device policy for parent/guardian signature.

Second Offense

The device(s) will be taken from the student by a faculty or staff member and turned into the front office. The device will be logged in. The device(s) must then be picked up the student’s parent/guardian. The device will be locked up securely until the parent/guardian is able to retrieve it.

Third and Subsequent Offenses

The device(s) will be taken from the student by a faculty or staff member and turned into the front office. The device will be logged in. The device(s) must then be picked up by the student’s parent/guardian. A $15 fine will be assessed starting at the third offense and every offense thereafter, payable by cash or check. The device will be locked up securely until the parent/guardian is able to retrieve it.
