8th Graders - Akins Update

Applications for the Akins ECHS Academy & PTECH programs are due on 3/31. Students that have already applied will be informed of their acceptance before the end of the school year. There are two evening parent sessions on 3/10 & 3/24 to answer any questions about the programs or help parents and students with the application. Spanish translation will be available.

Bear Track Team News

Thank you for your interest in track this year. Please come only on the days that correspond to event(s) you are interested in competing in for tryouts.

Try out Schedule:

March 8th - 100m and 200m dash

March 9th - 800m, 400m, shot put, & discus

March 10th - mile, long jump & triple jump

Practices will be Monday - Wednesday mostly in the afternoons from 4:15 - 5:30pm. The tentative practice schedule is below.

Monday - sprinters (100-400)/hurdles

Tuesday - long distance runners in the morning, jumps in the afternoon

Wednesday - relays, shot/discus

Thursdays - meets

Contact Coach Parker for 8th grade boys, Coach Avila for 7th grade boys, Coach Brown for 8th grade girls, or Coach Fuhrman for 7th grade girls.

Cheerleading Tryout News

When: Submissions are due by the end of the school day, Friday, April 30th.

Where: Details about virtual submission will be announced later

Important Notes:

Candidates will need a physical, dated after April 15, 2021, to try out.
Candidates will be submitting one continuous video of themselves spiriting in, jumps, cheer and dance.
Mandatory zoom beginning of April.
Tryout material will be released in mid-April. Date TBD.

"Star Strutters are the elite dance group at Bailey Middle School. Star Strutter Auditions for the next school year are from Monday, March 8th-Friday March 12th. Auditions will be after school from 4:15-5:30 on Zoom. For more information, please fill out this interest form below:
