November 12th Edition
Let's Talk! - Beginning the Mental Health Conversation with Your Teen/Pre-Teen at Bailey
Bailey Middle School is partnering with NAMI of Central Texas to host Let’s Talk – Beginning the Mental Health Conversation with Your Teen/Pre-teen – on November 30, 2021 at 6:00. Please use this form to RSVP (must be logged into Gmail account) to RSVP to this in-person event—if you have trouble completing the form, please contact Anna Duke (anna.duke@austinisd.org).
What parents will learn:
- How to talk to your teen about mental health
- The difference between bad behavior and symptoms of mental illness
- Early warning signs of a teen in crisis
More than 40% of teens are not receiving the care and treatment they need–often because they are too embarrassed to talk about mental health or don’t know how to ask for help. Parents don't know how to bring up this difficult subject with their children either. This one-hour presentation empowers parents to talk to their teens about mental health by dispelling mental health myths and providing useful resources and healthy language to use. Also, be sure to visit these awesome community resources--NAMI, Austin Child Guidance Center, Christi Center (grief support for children, teens, and adults) for upcoming classes and workshops and additional resources for parents.
Bailey Theatre Presents...
On Tuesday, November 16th at 7pm, Bailey Theatre will have their public performance of the UIL One-Act-Play, Property Rites by Alan Haehnel. Please join us in the Cafeteria for this final performance! Tickets will be sold at the door for $3 each.
PALS - Canned Goods and "Coats For Kids" Drive
Hey Bears! This is a reminder from the PALS that we are doing a Canned Food Drive from November 3rd - November 17th and collecting gently used coats for “Coats for Kids”. You may donate by buying canned good and putting them in the box at the bus loop or the car loop doors. You may donate your coats at the car loop, in your advisory classes or drop them off in the front office. The B-Day Advisory class that donates the most cans will get a prize. Please note that the only cans that will be counted for the Advisory contest will be the ones dropped off with the Advisory teacher. So make sure to donate as much as you can! Thank you!
