Bailey Bear Happenings - May 20th Edition

May 20th Edition

Note from the Principal

No lunch deliveries

Please remember that we are not allowing lunch deliveries to students through the end of the semester. Please do not "treat' you student to lunch during the school day. Take them to dinner or out for ice cream to celebrate the last week of school. If a student forgets their lunch please remember that lunch in the cafeteria is FREE this year. There are always different food choices in the lunch line so no child should ever go without something to eat this year.

Grades

Please check with your student (or use the parent portal) to make sure your student is current with their grades. Teachers will be closing grading windows very soon so your child must complete outstanding work and submit it ASAP before teachers close their "turn-in" window. (Some may have closed their window by Friday, May 20th - your student needs to check with each of their teachers to clarify if they can still turn in work and up until what date.)

John Rocha, Principal

8th Grade Completion Ceremony

It's time to celebrate our 8th graders! After two years of Covid, we can finally gather again in the Big Gym. However, because Covid is still present in the community we are limiting our guests to 3 people per 8th grader. Since the crowd will still be large, masks are recommended, but not required. Parking will be crowded so you may want to arrive a little early so you don't have to walk too far. Remember, the limit is 3 guests per 8th grader.

It's a great volunteer spot for someone who is organized and other than a monthly meeting (in person or Zoom, TBD for next year) can be done from home during non-school/work hours. Please email baileybearspta@gmail.com if you're interested or want more information!

AISD Summer Meals

Children need nutritious meals to learn, grow, and thrive—even when school is out. Through federally funded Texas Department of Agriculture meal programs, AISD provides free breakfast and lunch for students at many schools throughout the summer.

Who qualifies for free summer meals:

  • Students participating in on-site summer programs at eligible schools.

  • Any child in the community younger than 19.

  • Enrolled students with disabilities up to 21 years old.

How to find free meals this summer:

Beginning June 1, families may use the following tools to find a meal site anywhere in Texas:

  • Call 2-1-1 to speak to a live operator.

  • Visit www.SummerFood.org for an interactive site locator map.

  • Text FOOD or COMIDA to 304-304.

  • Families may also find district meals sites on the AISD website.

How it works: Children in the community enjoy free meals regardless of household income and without any registration or identification. To receive a free, healthy meal, children may simply visit the cafeteria at any participating site during designated service times. Children do not have to be enrolled in AISD to receive free summer meals.

Good to know: All AISD meal sites are closed July 4-8, click here to view community food resources. Meal sites and times are subject to change.
