Principal's Note

Close of the School Year

I wanted to reach out to everyone to say Thank You for your cooperation during the last couple of days of school regarding no backpacks and no Chromebooks. The response to that request was overwhelmingly positive. On Thursday we had to collect only 5 backpacks. On Friday it was again a very small number. Thank you for helping to make the message important for our students - we appreciate the support.

Upcoming Dates

Our first 5^th to 6^th grade "Bailey Transition Camp" was a success this week, serving about 60 incoming 6^th graders. It's a chance for students new-to-Bailey to spend a day with a few teachers touring the building, getting some vital information about rules and expectations, and playing some fun scavenger hunt games to help students get oriented to the campus.

We have two more Transition Camps scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, August 1^st and 2nd, from 8:30 - 1:30. There is detailed information on our website: bailey.austinschools.org under the School section - "Transition camp." New 6^th graders need to attend only one transition camp.

The fall semester for the '22-'23 school year begins on Monday, August 15th. Hopefully most of Covid will be behind us and we will be getting back to more "normal" operations. Please keep an eye on local news and on the AISD website for the most current information as we approach the start of the new school year in August.

Here's wishing everyone a relaxing summer season - whatever that might look like for you and yours. Encourage your children to put down their phones, and turn off their gaming systems, and pick up some books this summer. We are recommending students complete 5 books this summer to keep their reading skills at optimal levels. Half Price books or our public libraries are great sources of books at reasonable to no cost. Reading skills get better and stronger when they are practiced. Wishing you all the best! See you in August. Go Bears!!!

Athletic and Cheer Participation Forms Information and additional Bailey Sports information

Parents of athletes: please visit the Bailey Athletics Website this summer for important information and dates. Paperwork drop off, tryout dates, and schedules will be posted as the summer progresses. If you have any questions, please contact Coach Brown at lara.brown@austinisd.org.

Immunizations for Rising 7th Graders

Students need a booster Tdap within the last 5 years and Meningococcal (MCV4). If your student has received these vaccinations already, please provide proof to the health room. If your student needs the vaccinations, please send updated vaccination records upon completion. The records can be dropped off at school, faxed to 512-414-5434, or emailed to teri.grossman@austinisd.org.

Bailey Cross Country Information

Any incoming 6th, 7th or 8th grader who is interested in running Cross Country next year (2022-2023) here at Bailey, please fill out the form below! Practices and meets will begin next school year, with practices beginning the second day of school. Practices will be from 6:45-7:50 am every day before school and most meets will be on Saturday morning. If you are playing football or volleyball and want to participate you still can!
