Principal's Note

Bailey Parents/Guardian,

We've had a great start to the school year and your children have been wonderful. On behalf of the Bailey staff, I'd like to say Thank You to all our parents for your support in having your students ready to jump right into learning. We are off and running!

I'm including some information that may help your student in the next few days...

Lost Class Schedule?

Go into the Frontline system (Student Self Serve) and then click on "Sched".

Requesting changes to your class schedule

Schedule Change Request Forms will be available in the Front Office beginning Monday, Aug. 22. Request forms must be signed by a parent before they are turned in. Students should turn the form in by Wednesday, Aug. 25th by 12:00 noon. (This is a short turn-around.) Please Note: Filling out the form is not a guarantee that your child's schedule will be changed.

We've explained to students that schedule changes at this time are completely dependent on whether there is space available in the class your child wants to get in to. If there is space available and it works in your child's schedule, we will do all we can to make the change. If there is not space available (the class is already full) then we will not be able to process that request.

Picking Up late in the Day

If you need to pick up your student before dismissal at 3:50PM we strongly recommend that you plan to pick them up BEFORE 3:30PM. The traffic gets a little intense closer to dismissal. You can email bailey@austinisd.org to let us know well in advance what time you need to pick up your child. We will do our best to have them ready.

Campus Advisory Council - Volunteers needed

We're looking for parent volunteers to join our Campus Advisory Council (CAC). The CAC is a group of parents and teachers who gather once a month (usually the 2nd Tuesday after school at 4:00PM) to discuss schoolwide information and issues with the principal. Topics can range from staffing and budget items, to bonfire, to STAAR performance, and many other topics. This can be a great way to become involved and have a much deeper understanding of how Bailey operates. Meetings last about an hour.

Looking for a job? Bailey is hiring!

We currently have positions available at Bailey if you are interested. Teaching Assistant (TA) positions help our Special Education students navigate their various classes and offer academic assistance, as needed. We also have TA positions that assist children with higher, more intensive needs (some medical, some behavioral). Currently, TA positions require the completion of some college hours.

We also have openings in our Housekeeping department. These custodian positions work the late shift - currently 1:00PM to 10:00PM. The late shift also gets an extra $1.10/hr pay differential from the daytime positions.

Have you ever tried Substitute teaching? We are always in need of substitutes. This is a great way to earn extra money without committing to a full time position. You can choose daily work or you can choose long-term sub jobs that might last anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks or more. You make the call. There are sometimes 1/2 day assignments as well.

Schedule Change Process begins Monday ends Wednesday at noon

Schedule change request forms will be available in the front office on Monday, August 22nd. The form MUST be filled out with details, signed by a parent, and returned to the front office by NOON on Wednesday, August 24th. All schedule changes MUST be approved by the Principal and the student will be notified of the decision. Not all schedule change requests can be honored due to scheduling restraints.

Parent Reminders

Just a few reminders to help make your interactions with Bailey less stressful.

- For any information that needs to be sent to Bailey (attendance notes, doctor notes, questions for the nurse, questions about Bailey) email us at bailey@austinisd.org Notes may be sent to school with your child the next day or emailed to our email address.

- When you need to pick up your child during the school day, please email us at bailey@austinisd.org or call the front office at 512.414.4990 to let us know when you will be picking up your child. This will give the office time to locate your child. Please bring your license in every time you pick up your child.

- No student pick ups after 3:30 pm. With the pick up lanes filling up early, it makes it very difficult for you to park, come into the office, check out your child, and make it to your appointment on time.

- If you have an urgent need to contact your child, please do not text or call them on their cell phone. Please call the main office at 512.414.4990 and the staff will have your student come to the office to call you.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes - first meeting - Friday, August 26th

Anyone interested in joining Bailey's FCA, the group will begin meeting Friday, August 26th at 7:20 am in the small gym. If you have any questions about the group, please contact Lara Brown at lara.brown@austinisd.org.
