Reminder about Tardies

Parents,

We need your help. Please remind your bear of the importance of getting to class on time. We are noticing that some of our Bears are getting to class later and later. Please encourage them to get their materials for the first two class periods of the day and return to their locker before lunch and after lunch get their materials for their last two classes of the day. This will afford them more time to get a restroom break and get to class on time. Students caught in the hall after the tardy bell will be assigned lunch detention for the day starting September the 19th. Please help us, help our bears get to class on time.

Gifted/Talented Nomination Window is Open

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Our school is pleased to announce that referrals for gifted and talented students are being accepted from September 19 to October 7. Interested parents and guardians should contact the Campus GT Advocate, (Jennifer Seale), at jennifer.seale@austinisd.org or 512.841.3774 for additional information regarding the GT referral process. GT screening and testing requires parent/guardian permission by the campus deadline. A variety of measures are used for screening and testing. Girls, if you interested in trying out for basketball you must have a physical on file and your RankOne forms completed. Tryouts will be October 12-14th.

7th grade 6:30am-8am

8th grade 4pm-5:30pm

FCA Meetings

FCA meets every Friday morning at 7:20am in the small gym.

See You At The Pole is September 26. Meet at the flag pole at 7:30am if you are interested in praying for our school.

Bonfire/Dance/Silent Auction Information

Bidding on silent auction items will begin Thursday, October 6, 2022 at noon and run until Sunday, October 9, 2022 at 5:00 pm.

MUM INFORMATION

Students will be allowed to wear mums or arm garters to celebrate Homecoming on Bonfire Day October 7. 2022 and Game Day, Tuesday, October 11, 2022.

Mums and arm garters must be reasonable in size and not distracting. Please look for mums no larger than 4 inches in diameter (leave the large mums for high school). If pinned at the shoulder, ribbons and items hanging from the mum should not hang below the waist (approx. 12-16 inches).

Lights, bells, etc, should not be used.

Please keep in mind that the more elaborate the mum, the more likely it is to be considered a distraction to teaching and learning.

Teachers will have the discretion to take up the mum and hold it until the end of the school day.

Students should also be advised that mums will need to be left in their lockers for any PE, athletics, or dance classes.

We are now providing academic support during the school year. For students in need of recovering or protecting their credits, Bailey Middle School is offering the district supported In-Person TWILIGHT@Bailey AfterSchool from 3:55 - 5:15p.m. or TWILIGHT@Bailey Saturday School from 8:00 - 11:30a.m.
