PSAT for 8th Graders - Information

AISD will be offering the PSAT on November 7th. You may OPT-out if you would like, but remember the form opt-out form is due on campus no later than November 1st.

Bailey Celebrates "Red Ribbon Week"

Hey everyone, there is a lot going on next week. It is Red Ribbon Week also known as Love Your Brain Week. Along with Red Ribbon Week, our Culinary Arts department is hosting a Halloween Extravaganza Week. The purpose of Red Ribbon Week is to present a visible commitment to a safe, healthy and drug-free lifestyle. The campaign is designed to create awareness concerning the problems related to the use of tobacco, alcohol and other drugs and to support the decision to live a drug-free lifestyle. Students and staff at Bailey can help support Red Ribbon Week and enjoy the Halloween Extravaganza Week by participating in the daily activities.

Monday, October 24th, is “Don’t be Spooked by Drugs, Be a JEAN-ius and BLACK out Drugs from your Life” day. Everyone is encourage to wear jeans and a black shirt or something spooky related to Halloween. No masks, no blood, no weapons, no gore. Be sure to stop by the counselor table outside the lunch room during your lunchtime to sign the Drug-Free banners to support being drug-free and receive your drug-free wristband.

Tuesday, October 25th, is “Put on your thinking cap to keep your brain safe from drugs” day and everyone is encouraged to wear their favorite cap, hat or headpiece.

This is also the start of the Halloween door decorating contest during advisory. Winning doors will win a popcorn party on Friday.

Wednesday, October 26th, is “Your Future is Bright” day. Everyone is encourage to wear neon or bright colored clothes. We would like to see as many people possible in PINK since is it breast cancer awareness month. There will be a contest on who can wear as much PINK as possible. Someone in each grade level will win a candy bag at the end of the day. Also the decorated doors must be finished today in order to be judged.

Thursday, October 27th, is “Sock it to Drugs” day and everyone is encourage to wear fun and silly or mismatched socks. For the Halloween Extravaganza, there will be a candy jar during each lunch for students to guess the number of candy in the jar. Winners will receive a $10 Starbucks gift card.

Friday, October 28th, is “Team Up Against Drugs” day. You can either wear your favorite athletic team shirt OR participate in the HOMEMADE Halloween Contest were people group up and make their own costume. Winners will receive a gift basket full of candy and other treats. It can be a group up to 4 people and the costumes must be school appropriate – no weapons, blood or gore. 

PTA Spirit Night and 2nd Chance Auction

 

Our first Bailey Bears PTA Spirit Night is coming on Monday 10/24! Proceeds from all Pick-Up and Dine-In orders will benefit our school, teachers, staff and students. Remember to let the cashier know that you would like your order to support Bailey Middle School - this is especially important when you are picking up an order. We do not get credit for doordash or ubereats orders, so please place your orders directly with Torchy's. Thank you all for your continued support!

Flu Shots at Bailey - Make your Appointment NOW

Bailey Middle School will be hosting a Staff & Student Fall Flu Clinic on Tuesday, November 1, 4:00pm - 6:00pm.

All Austin ISD staff and students with insurance can receive a Flu shot at the Fall Flu Clinic at no cost. The cost for flu shots is $40 without insurance. 

Appointments will be taken from 4:00pm - 6:00pm, walk-ins will be accepted whenever possible.

  • Please come at your allotted time to help with social distancing

  • We will conduct a touchless-thermometer temperature check prior to vaccine administration

Canned Food Drive - Support the Central Texas Food Bank

October 10 through October 31 the PALS will be collecting food cans for the Central Texas Food Bank. We will be having a competition for this. The advisory class that has the most cans by October 31 in each grade will get a popsicle party. There will be boxes by the office to drop off cans, PALS in the morning in a designated area that students can give cans to, and students can always give them to their advisory teacher. Students need to write the name of their advisory teacher on the cans so PALS can keep track of which classes have donated the most cans.

Picture Retake Day - Mark your Calendar

Picture Retake Day will be November 2nd. If you have already purchased pictures and would like for your student to have the picture retaken, you will be required to send the pictures that you purchased back to school in order to have the picture retaken. Please watch this space for ordering details.

The AISD Common Application for Specialty Programs/Schools of Choice is open October 17, 2022 through January 13, 2023. Now in its second year, this application means families and students can fill out just one application for all the specialty programs in AISD.

Why it matters:  Before, if your student wanted to apply to LASA High School, Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders, and an Early College High School program, you’d be filling out three different applications.

Getting started: You’ll need your Austin ISD portal login credentials.

  • If you don’t have those or forgot your password, you can get them on the Austin ISD portal.

Yes, but: Some programs may require an essay, report cards or other materials. Check the application or reach out to the program for details.
