December 9th Edition
8th Grade High School Trip
On Thursday, December 15th, 8th grade students will begin meeting with high school representatives to begin the high school transition process. Students projected to attend Akins Early College High School will take buses to Akins to visit the campus and see presentations on Akins' seven Academies. Students projected to attend Bowie High School will take buses to attend the annual Bowie “Dawg Show.” Students projected to attend Austin, Crockett, and Travis high schools will stay on campus as representatives from those high schools will be coming to Bailey Middle School on Thursday, December 15th, and will make presentations to students.
It is important to note only 8th grade students projected to attend either Akins Early College (for Akins campus visit) or Bowie high schools (for Bowie campus visit) will be able to attend these campus visits/presentations, even if you have a high school student already attending Akins Early College or Bowie high schools that are on a transfer for this year (or a previous year).
For questions, please contact the Bailey Middle School front office at (512) 414-4990.

Mayfield Dairy Queen's Top Banana
Hi Bears,
Meet Chiquita!!
The counseling department is starting a Top Banana Award. Chiquita will spend 1 week in the Top Banana's classroom, or office. At the end of the week, a new Top Banana will be named by the previous week's recipient. An email with a brief description of why the new banana was chosen should be shared with the campus.
This week's Top Banana is, DRUM ROLL PLEASE.... Sherri Foster!
Ms. Foster has been helpful with kids beyond her classroom. She steps in to help when she recognizes a need on and off campus. She recently helped our 8th grade counselor place 2 new students with specific scheduling needs. Ms. Broccolo summed it up nicely, "She goes above and beyond in advocating for her students time and time again. She has genuine care, compassion, and empathy for kids beyond her classroom!"
Dairy Queen Mayfield in South Park Meadows is proudly offering a free Blizzard coupon to each week's winner.
Career Fair at Bailey
All grade levels had the opportunity to do a career interest inventory through Naviance in their math class last week. To tie into the career interest inventory, the counseling department held a career fair for our 8th grade students today, Thursday, December 8, 2022.
