Bailey Bear Happenings - December 21st Edition

December 21st Edition

Note from the Principal

Bailey Families,

This year the AISD calendar has us starting the Winter Holiday break later than usual, and that means our return to school in January will also be later than usual. Please remember that classes for students do not resume until Tuesday, January 10th. We hope that all of our families can enjoy the time off with family and friends whenever possible. On behalf of all of our staff here at Bailey, I want to extend a heartfelt Thank You for all of your expressions of appreciation in the last couple of weeks. They do mean a lot to everyone at Bailey. Your children have done well during December, staying focused in classes and thru some of our mandatory middle-of-the-year testing. Bravo to all of them.

Our teachers will be headed home for a well-deserved break but they will come back refreshed and ready to start the spring semester on the run. We have lots of curriculum to cover in the second semester so please remind your children to stay focused and stay on top of their assignments. We're looking forward to a great start in 2023!

Until then... Happy Holidays!

John Rocha, Principal

Teacher of the Year

We are delighted to announce that Bailey’s 2022-2023 Teacher of the Year is Justine Lashley! Ms. Lashley is a dedicated CTE (Career Technology Education) teacher in her 4th year as an educator. Her students experience hands-on learning and their hard work directly benefits the Bailey community. In the last two years of teaching Event & Meeting Planning, her students have developed & hosted some of our campus’s major events including-our annual Thanksgiving Luncheon, the Holiday Extravaganza, Mr. Rocha’s Annual BBQ, and Black History Month activities. Ms. Lashley also impacts students outside her classroom through coaching volleyball and starting a Girls Empowerment Club. She focuses on building positive relationships with students to encourage them to be their best selves. Her welcoming demeanor and carefully planned lessons and activities result in powerful educational experiences for our Bailey students. Congratulations, Ms. Lashley!

The Bailey family is blessed to have him on our team.
