This week's Top Banana

This weeks Top Banana was passed from Ms.Andrews to Ms. Dohlman. Ms Dohlman is very involved in supporting our kids with her campus involvement, her leadership and her organization.

Celebrating Robotics

Congratulations Robotics Teams

The Robotics Teams had a great season. Our teams competed in several tournaments this season and fought hard in everyone. The teams held their own against many teams including several High School teams. The teams earned a couple of top 20 finishes as well as a few top 10 finishes. A couple of our teams qualified for the regional tournament where they competed hard and managed to leave with top 20 finishes and a top 10 finish.

PALS looking for donations for Austin Humane Society

March 20 through April 14 the PALS will be collecting pet supplies for Austin Humane Society. These new and gently pet toys, food, cleaning, and medical supplies will go to rescued pets waiting to be adopted. PALS will have a box by the office to drop off donations In the morning the PALS will be out front to collect donations. They will also come by advisory classes during the weeks of the drive to pick up donations. There will be no competition or reward for the class that has donated the most this time.

GT/TE Student information

Parents of GT and TE students,

AISD is hosting the 2nd annual Austin ISD GT Student Showcase. We will collect student project submissions from March 1-31 and will showcase exemplary GT and TE student work in May on the main AISD website. 

 The 2023 GT Student Showcase Theme is "Find the Good" which comes from a Jesse Owens quote:

"Find the good. It's all around you. Find it, showcase it and you'll start believing in it."

Registration information for the 2023-2024 School Year

Ready for that time of the year! Open Registration for next school year 2023/2024 is here.

What documents do I need to enroll my student? 

  • Child’s birth certificate 

  • Child’s social security card (if applicable) 

  • Child’s immunization records 

  • Child’s withdrawal form/last report card

  • Parent/Guardian photo ID 

  • Proof of guardianship (if applicable) 

  • Proof of residency (electric, gas bill or Lease agreement 

How do I register my student? 

Returning families can register their children by logging in to their AISD Portal account under the student registration icon. The online registration system is available only through the AISD Portal at portal.austinisd.org. You would have to update any information that has changed. If you are having any issues with your portal please contact the student services department at 512-414-1726.

What if I have a new address?

All returning students who’ve had a recent change of address must submit proof of residency to Bailey@austinisd.org for the 2022–23 school year. Please email us a copy of your most recent utility bill and a picture ID to bailey@austinisd.org or you can always email us for more details.

How do I apply for a transfer? 

The easiest way to submit your in-district transfer request is to apply through the Austin ISD Portal (Right click and open in a new tab). The application is called Online Student Transfer Request. 

  • Students new to Austin ISD need to complete online registration (also in the AISD Portal) before submitting their transfer request. 

  • At Bailey we DO NOT handle any type of transfer please contact Student Services at 512-414-1726 or you can email them your question to AISDtransfers@austinisd.org

How do I find my student’s home campus?

Visit www.austinisd.org/school-finder (right click and open in a new tab) to see which is your child’s home campus. The page will connect you to a map where you can enter your home or apartment address. 

Career Readiness Camp for Middle Schoolers

There will be (3) Career Readiness Camp choices for our AISD Middle School Students to choose from, which include:

  1. Health Sciences - June 12 - 16, 2023, at ACC Eastview Campus, 3401 Webberview Road, Austin, TX

  2. Advanced Manufacturing - June 20 - 23, 2023, at ACC Highland Campus, 6101 Highland Campus Dr, Austin, TX (*note: 6/19 is a holiday - camp will be closed on this day)

  3. Information Technology - June 26 - 30, 2023, at ACC Highland Campus, 6101 Highland Campus Dr, Austin, TX

Students can select one, two or all three choices. Please see the attachment (in both English and Spanish) for more details and the QR code to apply while space is available.

FCA meets every Friday morning at 7:20am in the small gym..

Cheer Club meets every Wednesday after school from 3:55 to 4:45 pm.

Anime Club meets every Tuesday after school from 3:50 - 4:30 in Room 309. Contact Ms. Lozano if you are interested.

Girls Empowerment Club meets every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:50 - 5:30 in Room 202. Contact Ms. Andrews or Ms. Lashley if you are interested.

AISD Events/ Information

Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta Day Celebrations

In his speech advocating for a Cesar Chavez national holiday, former President Barack Obama noted: 

“Chavez left a legacy as an educator, environmentalist, and a civil rights leader. And his cause lives on. As farmworkers and laborers across America continue to struggle for fair treatment and fair wages, we find strength in what Cesar Chavez accomplished so many years ago. And we should honor him for what he's taught us about making America a stronger, more just, and more prosperous nation.” 

Students, families and staff are invited to march along with the Crockett ECHS Marching Band and TexAnns Dance Team, Eastside ECHS Marching Band and the Martin MS Band.

Austin ISD participants should meet no later than 9:30 a.m. The march will begin at 10 a.m. and will end at approximately 10:30 a.m. 

Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen and to bring 

LASA's Velocity Dance Clinic

LASA's Varsity Dance Team, Velocity, is hosting our annual Dance Clinic Saturday, April 1st and the clinic includes quite a few perks including: 

  • VIP Dancer entry and performance at our Velocity Spring Show on Saturday, April 15th at the AISD PAC in the evening (exact time coming soon)! 

  • 2 tickets to the Spring Show for family/friend of dancer.

  • 3 hours of dance instruction, fun, and a showing at the end of the day!

We are excited to announce that we are providing our AISD Middle School Students with the opportunity to attend a FREE all day (Monday thru Friday ) summer camp during June 2023, sponsored by Austin Community College. Students of all experience levels are welcome to shine on stage during the free Summer Theatre Series program. Current 5th through 12th graders in Austin ISD are invited to try out for the program’s summer series. 

The program dates are: June 5, 2023 through July 24, 2023. The Summer Theatre Series will feature Mary Poppins as the musical production, Treasure Island as the black box studio production, and the Summer Theatre Series Rising Stars program—a one-week educational theatre camp that offers workshops in acting, dance, and voice. 

Students interested in participating must register and submit video auditions to the STS Blend course by March 21, 2023.

Power Hour Learning Opportunities by AISD Special Education Department

Families, community members, and staff are invited to attend the upcoming Power Hour learning opportunities hosted by the Austin ISD Special Education Department. 

Dan St. Romain, a national education consultant with roots in special education support and development, will be presenting virtually on goal setting and positive behavior supports. These are two different sessions in February and March, which are repeated with lunchtime and evening virtual offerings. Interpretation services will be provided. Please share information with families and with staff.

Community Engagement Learning Opportunites by AISD Special Education Department

Families, community members, and staff are invited to attend the upcoming Spring Parent and Community Engagement learning opportunities hosted by the Austin ISD Special Education Department. The Department is hosting a virtual Power Hour with national speaker, Dan St. Romain, on the topic of Avoiding Power Struggles. Also, the Department has partnered with VELA for a three-part series in April focused on Autism. Please announce and share this information with your families and staff or consider having your parent support specialists host watch and engagement sessions for those preferring to participate in community.
