First Day of School/Schedule Change Information

Drop off and Pick up:

Prepare for long car lines the first week of school. I promise this gets better and smoother after the first week or two. Please drive slowly through the car rider line as new students are acclimating to our drop off and pick up routines as well. We will not be giving tardies the first week of school if your student is stuck in the car line in the mornings.

Student Schedules:

We understand that schedule changes can be unsettling for students and parents alike. Please know that any adjustments being made are necessary to create the most effective and supportive learning environment for all students. These changes are not made lightly and are part of a thoughtful process guided by student needs and school-wide logistics.

There are several common reasons for schedule adjustments, including:

  • Balancing class sizes to ensure all students receive appropriate attention and support.

  • Adjusting for teacher availability or changes in staffing.

  • Fulfilling academic plans for students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), 504 plans, or specific academic needs.

  • Making room in classes to accommodate required courses.

Here’s how the process works at Bailey:

  1. Students receive their initial schedules on the first day.

  2. During the first couple of weeks, counselors and administrators closely monitor class sizes, student placements, and academic needs.

  3. Necessary changes are made during this adjustment period to ensure balanced and appropriate placement as students continue to enroll, and some student may not show up.

  4. Schedule change request deadline is not until Sept 5th, so there is plenty of time to make changes.

If your child has experienced a schedule change, please encourage them to stay positive and adaptable. In our experience, these changes often result in better outcomes for students academically and socially. That said, if your child is having difficulty adjusting, we encourage you to reach out to their counselor or a member of our administrative team so we can help.

We appreciate your patience and support as we work to create the best possible experience for every student at Bailey. Our goal is to ensure that each child receives a high-quality education in a well-structured and supportive environment.

Thank you for your continued partnership and trust.
