Bailey Brags

Our Bailey Bear shares the field with mascots from around the district.

Our Bailey Bear mascot recently participated in a photo shoot for Mascots for Masks, put on by Austin Public Health. Austin Public Health and Travis County called with an idea to partner with us for a PSA called "Mascots for Masks: 'DEFENSE' for our Community Against COVID-19", AND it so happened that our bear answered that call, even though it was an unknown number. Our Bailey Bear learned so much by watching more experienced mascots and really enjoyed this once in a lifetime event. We even caught him putting his horns up with "Hook'em", and he may have won the dance-off competition.
Way to go Bailey Bear!

Miss being a Bailey Bear? Our band kiddos have put together a little treat to remind you what Bear Spirit feels like! For sure it will make you smile, it might get stuck in your head, or you may shed a tear. Regardless, they are both worth checking out! Go Bears!

It's National School Librarian Day!
A big bear shout out of appreciation to our Bailey Librarian, Jennifer Ripstra, for always making herself available to Bailey students, parents, teachers and staff! In honor of Ms. Ripstra, Bailey staff shared photos of themselves with their favorite book(s).

Congratulations to 8th grade student, Miles Levesque, who won a silver medal in the NATIONAL Scholastic Art and Writing Competition!

Miles is the first Bailey student to win a national award! The only other award winners in the district were three Art students from McCallum Fine Arts High School. In total, there were only 3,000 national awards out of 320,000 artworks submitted. Way to go, Miles!!!

The chickens have arrived! The newest eight Bears on campus have wings! They have already begun laying eggs! We're all so excited to welcome them to Bailey!

The last regular-season tournament went quite well for our Bailey Bears! Though it was very competitive with the high school teams, Bailey didn’t back down. Congrats to "Team Fuzzy Logic" for being “Tournament Finalist”. This team overcame many difficulties during the tournament but that didn’t break their determination. They scored all 50 points by themselves in the final match! "Teams Large Heads" and "Fried Circuits" finished in the quarterfinals in the Alliance Round! "Team Large Heads" also won the “Judge’s Award”! The Judge’s Award is determined by the judges and is based on interviews and criteria found in the judge guide.

Thank you to Bailey Librarian, Jennifer Ripstra, for coordinating the visit from Texas A&M Unversity's Chemistry Roadshow. There was fire! There was explosions! A great time had by all!

Bailey Choir students went to see Verdi's "Rigoletto" at the Long Center and had fabulous time! We are so proud of how well they represented Bailey. The show was fabulous. It had all the elements you could ever want in a performance: humor, love, scandal, murder... DRAMA! The voices, costumes, set.... everything is fantastic! It was sung in Italian with an English translation shown on a screen above the show.

Bailey's Finest Original Bailey Teachers As we celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the opening of Bailey Middle School, we are excited to honor three current staff members who have been at Bailey since it's opening. Spanish teacher, Sally Venegas (left), Counselor, Lori Frels (middle) and Math Specialist, Lynn Owen (right) were here the day the doors first opened in the fall of 1993. They have influenced thousands of lives who have since passed through those doors. We are grateful for your service to our students, to our Bailey community, and to the education profession in general. You are Bailey's finest.
