Counseling Services

We are here for you

Most middle schoolers talk to friends or family for help, but sometimes you may need a counselor to support you. AISD School Counselors support the WHOLE student, which means that you can talk to them about any area of your life.

You can talk to your School Counselor about:

  • Academic Issues, School,  Study Skills, Teacher Issues, Organization, Time Management
  • College and Career Issues, Strengths, Interests, Classes for Next Year or even High School
  • Social Issues, Making Friends, Joining Clubs, Bullying, Problems with Friends, Healthy Relationships, How to help a friend, etc.
  • Personal Issues, Family Issues, Mental Health, Identity, LGBTQ+, Race, Ethnicity, Stress Management, Coping, Healthy Habits, etc.

Confidentiality

Counselors have to keep your conversations confidential, or private.  Counselors are professional secret keepers and they will not share your information with other people without your permission.  However, there are 3 reasons when a counselor may have to break confidentiality to get you help.

"Anything you say to counselors is 100% confidential unless..."

Counselors are required to break confidentiality and inform parents, caregivers, or outside safety agencies in the following situations:

  • A student or family member is at risk for self harm
  • A student or family member is at risk for harm to others
  • A student or family member reports that they are being harmed

Counselors Build Connections

We want you to have strong, healthy, happy relationships with everyone in your life! If you want a counselor to share information with your teacher or parent and it is hard to find the right words, your counselor can help you with that. You are not alone.
