Computers: Replacing lost or damaged Chromebooks and chargers
The student Chromebooks are important school issued supplies, very similar to textbooks, and they must be cared for responsibly by the student to whom they are issued. We are beginning to see more and more cases of Chromebooks that have been carelessly handled and thus damaged beyond repair. Some Chromebooks have been lost, and dozens of chargers have been lost. The school district has issued a set amount of Chromebooks and chargers to Bailey and we can not replace lost, damaged, or stolen Chromebooks at no charge. We simply do not have those resources.
The cost to replace a lost or damaged (beyond repair) chromebook must paid by the family before Bailey can issue a replacement chromebook. Please note: You are not paying for a new Chromebook for your child, you are paying for the lost or damaged chromebook your child was originally issued. After paying the replacement cost, your child will receive a replacement Chromebook which could be new, but will likely be refurbished. The same goes for replacing a Chromebook charger.
Current Replacement costs:
Replacement Chromebook - $300 - $350 (depending on the current price the district has negotiated with the vendor.)
Replacement Charger - $35 (current price)
These costs may change over the coming months as the markets change. It is very important that you speak with your child about taking care of this very important equipment. Having a specific place at home where the charger lives means a student can charge their computer overnight in the same place and they don't have to carry their charger around (and possibly lose it). The Chromebook batteries are good for close to 10 hours of continuous use on a single .
