New Principal Introduction

Dear Bailey Middle School Community Members,

I am honored and thrilled to be the newest Principal of Bailey Middle School. Leading such an incredible school community of dedicated educators and talented students is truly humbling.

As a native of South Austin, I have witnessed the tremendous growth of this area over the years. I have strong roots in the community, having spent countless hours at the old Manchaca baseball fields and enjoying the Firehall Friday night fish fry’s near Menchaca Elementary. I obtained my bachelor's degree from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University) and pursued my Master's degree in Education at the University of Texas at Austin. I am grateful that I have been married to my incredible and patient wife for the past 20 years. Together, we have been blessed with a 19-year-old son and a 15-year-old daughter. My family and I bleed burnt orange and enjoy attending as many Longhorn athletic events as possible.

Professionally, I am entering my 15th year in education. I have had the privilege of serving the Akins High School Community for 13 years in various capacities as a teacher, coach, and administrator. My first priority as principal is to learn as much as possible about what makes Bailey so special. I believe relationships are the key to success in education and hope you are able to stop by July 31st from 4pm-6pm for an informal meet and greet in the Bailey library. It is my intent to have purposeful conversations with the entire school community, listen to all voices, and introduce myself to you.

I am extremely excited to embark on this relationship-building journey with all of you. I look forward to ongoing collaboration to ensure a shared vision that will benefit students academically, socially, and emotionally.

Sincerely,

Brad Lancaster, Principal
